After 12 years together, Colette & Callum’s proposal was nothing short of extraordinary – ending with a trip to A&E in New York!

About You

Please tell us a little about your relationship. How did you meet?

Myself and Callum met on a night out in 2011 and had been a couple for 12 years prior to Callum proposing. He proposed in July 2023 in Central Park, NYC. 30 mins later he fell off a scooter and we spent our engagement night in A+E in New York where he’d broke his arm in 2 places!

Your venue

Why did you choose the venue?

We chose Wennington Hall as it was a brand new venue, close to home in Lancaster, and we took a risk by booking it when it was still a building site! I knew the building would look beautiful and had no doubts that it wouldn’t be finished in time. I was blown away the first time I saw it and it was only half finished at the time!

Your Theme

Did you have a theme or colour scheme for your wedding?

Our colour scheme was sage green and pastels

Entertainment

What did you walk down the aisle to?

The Piano Guys – A Million Dreams

Entertainment

Tell us about your entertainment?

During the day we had DFC Entertainment, we had Rob Jones doing two sets of acoustic guitar - he was amazing and the guests loved him, then we had Adam Boasman a wedding host from DFC who gave us the most lively wedding breakfast which was great! For night time entertainment we had Sold To The Sky – an amazing local band and good friends of ours who made sure the dance floor was never empty!

Photography

Who was your photographer? Why did you choose them?

We chose Samantha Broadley as our photographer and she brought in Stephen Whitehead for videography – both did a fantastic job and captured the day so well! Their pictures are amazing and can’t wait to get the rest of the photos and the video!

The Venue

What food did you choose for your wedding breakfast and why?

We chose a vegetable soup, ham hock croquette and haddock fishcake for starters. Main were chicken, beef brisket and salmon. Desserts were chocolate brownie, cherry bakewell and sticky toffee pudding. The food was amazing - we had so many compliments on it!

The Venue

How did you find your wedding coordinator?

Alicia was great all the way through – we originally didn’t have a set wedding coordinator when we booked as it was still being renovated, however it made us feel more at ease when we had one person to communicate with. She was really helpful and answered all our questions as best she could – obviously with it being a new venue there were lots of questions for everyone!

The Planning

Who helped plan your wedding? Did anyone in particular bring your wedding to life?

My mum Jackie and Auntie Claire helped me out a lot, mainly with wedding dress dilemmas and altering all the bridesmaid dresses. I did most of the wedding planning myself and enjoyed the process!

Finer Details

Tell us about the little things that made your day personal?

When I was a bridesmaid for my auntie when I was 10 I carried a teddybear down the aisle instead of flowers, therefore 22 years later I wanted my nieces and nephews to also carry teddies! My mum actually made them a teddy each which made it more special. Also unfortunately Callum’s dad passed away unexpectedly 3 months prior to the wedding therefore we wanted to celebrate him in some way, we got his Lambretta Scooter up to the venue and positioned it outside the front door with candles and flowers and it looked beautiful and was a lovely tribute.
