Having known each other since they were children, their families had always been close. It all started with their grandmothers, who had been best friends for almost 50 years! The two set the perfect example of everlasting friendship and love, and now, Oliver and India are following in their footsteps with their wedding at the Shireburn Arms.

Please tell us a little about your relationship. How did you meet? When, where and how was the marriage proposal?
We were childhood friends and our families were very close, in fact our grandmothers have been best friends for almost 50 years! After 3 years of dating, he proposed to me in a vintage photobooth in Manchester and then took me out to one of our favourite Italian places!

Why did you choose the Shireburn Arms?
We fell in love almost instantly with the Shireburn. We loved the cosy village vibes that it gave and just how warm and inviting the venue was as a whole. I loved the rustic decor as I knew I definitely didn’t want an all-white traditional wedding. Also as soon as we saw the games room then my husband wouldn’t shut up about it !!
Your Theme
Did you have a theme or colour scheme for your wedding?
Not so much of a set colour scheme more of just a theme of ‘bright retro disco’ with lots of deep and bright pinks and oranges!

How was your experience with your wedding coordinator?
Couldn’t have been any better! Honestly, we feel so lucky to have had Sarah and the whole team at the Shireburn help us with our wedding. I felt so relaxed and at ease not only leading up to the wedding but even on the day of the wedding because I knew that everything was in good hands.

Who helped plan your wedding? Did anyone in particular bring your wedding to life?
Besides those at the Shireburn, definitely my dad. He loves a good DIY and he made the disco ball board for us which I loved!
Your Food
What food did you choose for your wedding breakfast and why?
We went for the Bijou menu which was honestly just amazing. We had so many guests say how much they enjoyed the food!
Your Day
Tell us about the little things that made your day personal?
We were able to choose all of the songs that we wanted throughout the whole day which was great for us as we loved the retro playlist that we put together. We even both had our own disposable cameras so that we could capture the day through our own perspectives without needing to have our phones on us.

Who was your photographer? Why did you choose them?
Our photographer was Megan Gant who was recommended to us by some friends. I looked at her instagram and just loved her work and how good she was at capturing candid shots!
