The village of Downham is located in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) at the foot of Pendle Hill and just a stone throw from the market town of Clitheroe. Often coined one of the most beautiful villages in Lancashire, Downham has unrivalled views across the Ribble Valley which is unspoilt by overhead wires, satellite dishes, roadside signage and TV aerials.

The dining experience at the Assheton Arms is not to be missed. The seasonal menu offers refined country pub classics and showcases the very best of Lancashire produce. It even features ingredients that are grown or reared on the Downham Estate. The ever-changing specials board has more adventurous dishes with a focus on seafood, using some of the freshest, quality seafood in the North West.
